So this time it is quite hard to write this post as I am super excited and I don’t even know where to begin!
Earlier this month Dubai got a visit from the one and only Roland Mouret! The french fashion designer who has his collection hanging in the rails of Bloomingdales and Harvey Nichols Dubai, was here to present his literally just received spring summer collection during an amazingly stunning fashion show. I had the privilege of styling the show together with the lovely Eugenia who has been part of Roland Mourets team for over 7 years!
Beforehand, I received a training in which I learned all about the spring summer 2014 collection and Roland Mouret’s brand values. The high quality fabrics, the cuts that have to fit a woman like a glove, the inspiration, the first time of using lace in a collection and the amazing square cut shaped signature dresses.
The collection is inspired by Palais Royal in Paris, one of Roland Mouret most loved places as he explains, a place full of chaos, yet piece. During a huge renovation in 1986, a part of this peaceful area transformed into the new home to one of the chaotically and contrasting artworks of Daniel Buren. Just imagine this.. A historical tranquil place, all of a sudden disturbed by an abstract sculpture screaming contrast! To be exact; 280 black and white striped truncated columns. It obviously created a lot of fuss and a mass uproar. Now.. Almost 30 years later it remains as one of the most beautiful contradictions in Paris. Roland explains “It is what Paris is, both wild and tame. A garden that is as much as it not, how the world becomes the opposite of what the world is. The wish to be lost and the need to be found.”
Inspired by the contradiction in Palais Royal, Roland Mouret designed a stunning spring summer collection.
Below some pictures and a video of the amazing collection, the training and the fashion show!
Hope you are just as exciting about it as I am!
